These terms are the agreement between you and Service League for using the app, the website and the organization dashboard (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you are using the dashboard on behalf of a nonprofit, club, school or company, you agree on its behalf too.

1. What Service League is
Service League is a platform where organizations list volunteer opportunities and volunteers find them, request shifts, check in on site and earn credit — hours, points and standings — for the service they deliver, on their own or as part of a team. Service League is not the organizer of any volunteer activity. The organization that lists a shift runs it, decides who it approves, supervises the site and is responsible for what happens there.
2. Who can use it
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian, or through a school, club or program that has agreed to these terms for you. Organizations may set their own minimum age for a given shift.
- You must give accurate information and keep it current.
3. Your account
Keep your password private and don't share your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at info@theserviceleague.com if you think it has been used without your permission. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms (section 14).
4. Volunteering through the Service
- A shift request is a request. The organization decides whether to approve it, and may decline, cancel or reschedule a shift at any time.
- You agree to follow the organization's reasonable instructions, rules and safety requirements while on site, and to tell the organization if you cannot attend an approved shift.
- Volunteering can involve physical activity, travel and working with the public. You decide whether a shift is right for you, and you take part at your own risk, subject to the organization's own policies and insurance.
- Service League does not employ volunteers, does not pay for volunteer time and does not provide insurance, transport, training or equipment unless an organization arranges it.
5. Check-in and verified hours
- When you check in and out with the app, we take one location reading each time and compare it with the volunteer site to verify your hours. You agree not to falsify your location, use another person's account, check in for someone else, or otherwise misrepresent attendance.
- Hours are credited by the organization's approval and our verification rules. An organization may review, adjust or reject hours it does not believe were served. Service League's records are the final record for points and standings within the Service; they are not a legal or academic certification unless an organization chooses to treat them as one.
- If location is unavailable, a site lead may record your attendance, and those hours may be marked as pending review.
6. Points, rankings, competitions and rewards
- Points, world ranking, badges and standings are promotional features of the Service. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred or sold, and may be recalculated, reset or discontinued if we change how the Service works or find they were earned in breach of these terms.
- Competitions and challenges are run by organizations (for example a club-versus-club challenge). The organization sets the window, the metric and any prize, and is responsible for awarding it. Service League computes standings from recorded shifts and is not the prize provider unless we say so in writing.
- Rewards offered in the app (for example partner perks) are subject to the terms shown with the reward, availability and the partner's own conditions.
7. Organizations
If you use the dashboard for an organization, you confirm you are authorised to act for it. The organization is responsible for the accuracy of its listings, for complying with laws that apply to its volunteer program (including age, safety, background-check and waiver requirements), for the information it requests from volunteers, and for how it uses volunteer information it receives through the Service. Organizations may only use volunteer data to run their volunteer program, consistent with our Privacy Policy. Paid organization plans, where offered, are governed by the order or agreement for that plan in addition to these terms.
8. Acceptable use
Don't:
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, or behave unsafely on a volunteer site;
- falsify attendance, hours, location or identity, or manipulate points or standings;
- scrape, copy, reverse-engineer or interfere with the Service, or access it by any means other than the app and website we provide;
- upload content that is unlawful, infringing, explicit or that you don't have the right to share;
- use the Service to solicit volunteers for anything other than the listed activity, or for commercial purposes without our written consent.
9. Your content
You own what you add to the Service — your profile photo, name and the information you provide. You give Service League a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to operate and promote the Service (for example showing your avatar and first name on a team leaderboard). You can remove your photo at any time in the app. If you take part in a public challenge, the organization may use team names and totals in its own communications.
10. Our content
The Service, including its design, the Service League name, logo and fox, and all software, is owned by Service League or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. We don't grant any other rights.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, Service League disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that hours, points or standings will be free of mistakes. Service League does not screen organizations, sites or volunteers and makes no promise about the safety or suitability of any volunteer activity.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Service League and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for personal injury, property damage or loss arising from a volunteer activity organised by a third party, arising out of or related to the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to US $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Service League against claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your conduct on a volunteer site, or content you provide. If you act for an organization, the organization gives the same indemnity for its use of the dashboard.
14. Ending your account
You can deactivate your account at any time in the app (Settings → Deactivate Account). We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service; where reasonable we will tell you why. Sections 9 through 15 survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Collin County, Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. Before filing, please contact us — most issues can be resolved by email.
16. Changes
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new terms.
